The Jigguyra excavation site, situated on Lizard Island, is a remarkable location that houses a diverse collection of artefacts from early seafaring cultures in Papua New Guinea, Torres Strait, and the northeast coast of Queensland.
Littlebot utilised ultra-high-resolution photo scans and reference materials provided by the Museum of Tropical Queensland to recreate a section of the site and its trench to include in an interactive exploration experience.
This interactive experience allows users to explore the trench virtually, while also providing insights into the significant history of the retrieved artefacts. The accompanying user interface is designed to accommodate multiple users, enabling simultaneous exploration for learning groups.
